By means of update, I have knitted a few things since I last posted:

There have been a few tense moments in the family recently, mostly because of an early arrival:
That is my new nephew, Mason. His mother went into labor seven weeks early. The nice people at the hospital were able to hold off delivery for two weeks while his lungs developed and he gained some weight. He is a tiny little fellow and has been in the NICU for about a week and a half now. He is steadily improving.
Okay, so part of the reason I am posting, besides showing off my new nephew, is to get some feedback. I am considering buying an e-reader. My book collection has reached the point that for every book I bring in, I have to take one out. And I don't like doing that. I like to re-read my books. I have looked at some reviews, and it looks like Amazon's Kindle and Barnes and Noble's Nook are the two best readers out there. Kindle's software runs smoother than Nook, which can be a bit sluggish. Nook, however, supports ePub files (Google has several thousand classics available in ePub format).
Thoughts? Suggestions?

I have a Kindle 1 and I love it, but I would get a Nook over the Kindle 2. With Kindle 1 I have an SD card for additional storage, but Kindle 2 doesn't allow you to add an SD card, and if you're like me you'll quickly fill up your Kindle. I believe the Nook will take an SD card, plus you get wi-fi and cellular wireless, and then there is the e-pub support. If you want more opinions there is an e-reader group on Ravelry that is currently discussing this very topic.

Nah nah nah, I have a Kindle 2, I've played with the nook and I like the Kindle better. The nook is a tad narrower, but the kindle is thinner. The full keyboard on the kindle is easier to type with, though the color screen on the nook is a novelty I suppose. The nook is heftier. The kindle has the same access as the nook to those classics, most are in the kindle store. Also, you can convert any format ebook to the kindle format. The worst about the nook is that you have to mash the heck out of the buttons to turn pages, whereas the kindle is a simple click.
The only things I like about the nook over the kindle is the matt finish on the back as opposed to the brush aluminum and the slightly narrower form. Though, the fact that the weight and depth increase offsets this fact.
If you're worried about space, remember that none of your books are lost when you delete them off kindle. You can redownload them at any time; I've had my kindle for nearly a year and have yet to fill it up as I know that anything I take off I can just as easily get again by a simple click.
You might also look at the iPad coming out from apple. It's supposed to tout a fairly intuitive ebook reader, though there's no feedback thus far about how the comfortable the screen is to read form as compared to the eink the kindle and nook employee.
The nook also handles pdf files, without conversion. Reading on the iPad is probably like reading on the iPod Touch, but with a much larger screen. I have a Touch and have the Kindle app on it. The big advantage of the iPad is color - which would be great for knitting books...
